Book recommendation – The Teen Vogue Handbook

If you love fashion, I think you read magazines a lot. Teen Vogue is definitely one of the best magazine includes fashion, beauty, health, popstars and teen issues. Do you read it? It’s actually my favourite magazine! The other reason that I love it so much is about its website. I can always browse latest information of teen fashion. Not to mention about the great editor, style bloggers and great journalists inside. The ideas are not difficult to understand even you’re not familiar with fashion or you’re just a beginner. Actually, us, S & J, are beginners too. We learn from reading magazines and blogs, and express our point of views here. I just wanna tell you the importance of reading lots of magazines and blogs.
Back to the topic for today, I wanna talk about The Teen Vogue Handbook. I knew this book months ago, but I still had to do some researches about it before I typed here. So, I found out why Amy Astley wanted to publish this book. She said youngsters asked her questions about entering the fashion industry. Then she finally realized she had to do this book. It’s kinda like a map rather than a book. It tells young people how to prepare for the industry. No matter you wanna become a designer, a model, a journalist, a fashion critic or a photographer, well-prepare is always the successful key. It’s a guide that lead you to the fashion industry.
So, I believe this book is in stock in many countries, you don’t have to worry if you can’t see it in bookstores. If you really can’t find it, just order it from amazon.com. I’m gonna go get one after seeing the preview of it. Let some professionals to guide you to success! Haha.

Alexa Chung - Louis Vuitton Beauty

Alexa Chung is always fashion lovers’ idol and role model. Her father is a half-Chinese-plus-half-English. Her body is smaller like typical Chinese than common Brits while she has the charming characteristics of a Brit, too.
She was spotted wearing a dress of Louis Vuitton Resort 2011 Collection and holding a bag of the Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton Collection. She added a lovely grey sweater onto the dress so it looked different but even prettier and more fashionable, in my opinion. I love the simple leather bags of Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton Collection actually, simple but classy, as I mentioned that I personally love simple things so much. I want to talk about that collection but I seriously don’t have much time so I can only skip that. The photoshoot of Sofia Coppola is awesome, too. But I guess we teenagers are not suitable for leather goods. I think using or wearing leather goods is like wearing high heels, it contains some life experiences.

Burberry Winter Storm

I used to like winter more than summer when I was smaller. It was because I thought my clothes for winter were lovelier than those for summer. Haha. But then I’ve grown a bit older and I love summer too.
Burberry is a brand that I can’t afford to buy anything from. lol Ask me why I’m talking about this now. Cos I think this set of clothes is just so gorgeous. I love black. I used to wear black everyday when I was smaller, again. Then I asked my mom why couldn’t I buy some colourful dresses. She fulfilled my demands and bought me more colourful clothes. Now I have all kinds of colours in my wardrobe. But I started to ask myself ‘seriously? Why I have just a few black pants and a few black T-shirts?’ haha. Typical girls’ problem, never get enough. I just wanna tell the story. lol
I have to admit that I love the tenchcoats soooo much! They shine! Check out the bags. I know that nest nail rivets are trendy accessories that are commonly be used. I wanted to buy some accessories of those. They make the Burberry bags and pants a but punk and rock. I love ‘em!

Balmain 2011 Spring Collection

Balmain’s clothes are for teenagers. Do you agree with me?
In this collection, all looks are just so normal and wearable, unlike the fashion styles of Chanel or Prada. So you’re probably wondering why I pick this collection to talk about. I’m explaining. Since this blog is for teens to read, we can’t always post something expensive and too special to wear. I just love this kind of simple styles. Jeans or pants plus a little lovely nice top, also a pretty cool jacket, then we can go out now. Sometimes I love to be causal like this. This collection is even more causal than Paul & Joe that we talked about days ago.
P.S. I personally is a huge fan of the America flag lol

Alexander McQueen 2011 Spring Collection

As we all know, Alexander McQueen has gone to the heaven, enjoying his other life peacefully. It’s kinda hard to take over a designer’s job and impress the others, but Sarah Burton did a great job apparently. I think there’s no doubt because Sarah has worked for McQueen for like…15 years as I remember. She must have got a great vision of fashion design.
From this collection, the first time I looked at them I thought about China immediately. Cos there’re some peacock tail (I seriously mean PEACOCK. Ok? lol) elements in the clothes. The dresses are grand. The colors like harvest yellow plus black are just so Chinese, in my opinion. Haha.
However, no matter how great this collection is, I still think it’s not surprising enough. Forgive me of saying this, I really think McQueen was a genius and he could definitely do more than this.

Topshop a/w collections

Topshop has always been one of my favorite brands, its clothes are so elegant, simple and trendy, also, it suits teenagers very well. This time, I wanna talk about a/w collections of topshop. The above items are some of my favorite. The whole collection used earth tone like midnight blue, canyon brown, rustic brown, harvest yellow etc. as the main colors. One thing make me a little disappointed is that there aren't much dresses and jumpsuits, these have always been my favorite items from Topshop. However, I have to say that they did a great job, i'm impressed. The cutting and the detailing turned a simple item into a very special trendy must-have item. Can you tell me any reasons not to love Topshop? I guess no.  

Paul & Joe 2011 Spring Collection

It's still the fall, but I can smell the spring time is coming. After seeing lots of photos of various fashion shows, I just can't wait to welcome the spring breezy wind. I love this collection of Paul & Joe soooo much! I was willing to write about it actually. lol
Let's go through the colours first! Yellow, red, orange... black and white, are the main juicy and cool colours in the collection. The best thing that I like about this brand is that the clothes are young and match just fine with teenagers. Check out the simple but perfect patterns on the clothes like stripes and floral. I guess floral patterns are the chic in 2011 spring fashion. Anyway I love floral, I even picked floral curtains for my new room in the new appartment. This is a bit out of topic, sorry! lol Just wanna express how much I love it. (Stop explaining! lol)
Back to what I picked from the collection, I like to dress simple instead of 'dress-up'. Prehaps I'm underdress all the time, idk, but anyway. Things as simple as just a little red dotted dress or a pair of black pants catch my eyes. In my opinion, fashion contains two types - A) wearable for normal people and B) wearable only for superstars. I'm NO celebrity so I pick rule A to follow. How about you? Agree? We need not to always dress to kill. Get some rest with Pau; & Joe, killers!

Dakota Fanning - Mui Mui 2011 Spring Collection Show

In ‘Eclipse’, Jane was so talented and had the power to make people feel pain inside only by a glance. So, do Dakota Fanning in the real world catch your attention with her always-lovely-outfits?
A few nights ago, the Mui Mui 2011 Spring Collection show was held in Paris as a part of The Paris Fashion Week. Dakota attended the show and was spotted with her pretty pinky look.
When I first saw the pictures of Dakota, I thought of Katy Perry suddenly. I seriously didn’t know why. But then I figured out. I looked at the dress shw wore from a longer distance ( in the photos of course!), so I thought the dress was made of polyester, those sort of plastic materials. Katy Perry recently loves to wear one-piece PLASTIC dresses on stage, which is great. But of course, this time, on Dakota, wasn’t just a piece of plastic, but a leather dress. The cut of it is kind of simple, but in a super adorable way.
Pink is a colour that isn’t suitable for everyone. If we don’t handle it carefully, the nice colour would become just childish and tacky. Stars like Dakota Fanning and even Katy Perry can handle it just well. I have no doubt about that. So, What do you feel about the Dakota-pinky-look?

Lauren Conrad - Style Book

The MTV hit reality series ‘The Hills’ star Lauren Conrad, has published her style look recently. It’s a big progress that Lauren started to write last year. Her debut novel, ‘L.A. Candy’ helped her to gain a huge success in the publishing business.

At the same time as her style books are in stock, the third book of the ‘L.A. Candy’ series is in store now. I’m still reading the first book but I really will catch up soon! lol

Come back to her style book, I previewed some of the pictures inside. Lauren made such gorgeous styles in different causal ways. She didn’t make her outfits looked ‘too superstar’ or ‘too legit’. Everyone can make use of the styles in the book. The only sad thing is, I don’t think fashionable girls would buy the book because the styles inside are way ‘too simple’ to them. For teenagers in the 15-18 age group like us may read it as a reference. Prehaps next time, Lauren should change the styles a bit, make the girls look more fabulous and classy.

However, for loyal Lauren Conrad fans, you shouldn’t miss this great chance to buy a book with full of LaurenS inside! lol

Chanel 2011 Spring Collection

Chanel, for me, is always super classy, classical sometimes, elegant and we can’t touch it, instead, we can only admire the beauty of it from far far away.
So, what’s new lately? Yeah, right, the spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection! The show gave me a joyful atmosphere and I can totally feel the spring only by looking at the background.
Chanel, unlike the shows of Alexander McQueen that always bring me huge surprise when I see every outfits, instead, it gives me a feeling of ( I was gonna say costly but I couldn’t! lol) elegant. I picked some of my favourite looks in the show, put all on the picture above. As we all clear that F/W trend involved faux fur, in 2011 spring, Chanel uses FEATHER! I thought fur-and-feather-things can only be used in F/W trends. But the result is really great now. I’m sort of surprised by the feather looks. Then check out the floral dressed, it’s spring! Huh? If they could put more colours in the looks then I might kill for them.
Lastly, teenagers shouldn’t even think about having Chanel too much right? We just admire the loveliness of the clothes and accessories, try feeling the noble scent of it is okay. Then let’s go back to think about H&M, Zara and American Apparel, okay? Haha.

2010 F/W

Fall has arrived and winter is coming soon , it's time for us to go shopping! Let us look back to the 2010 f/w fashion shows and see what is the trends !

Colours in nude. Nude is definitely the color of the season, some brands like Chloé and Sonia Rykiel used it as their main color for the shows. And as you can see, nude is still gonna be the trend for 2011 s/s. It's a must-choose color for this f/w. Let's see how celebrities it :

Lace seduction. The lace trend is back , are you ready for it? Lace has been seen on the f/w runways of Stella McCartney, Valentino, Louis Vuitton etc. How can girls resist lace seduction? Even THEY can't resist. 

Faux Fur.  We all know that FAKE is not chic, however, Fake fur is a hit of this season! Runways , like Chanel, turned global warming into global-cooling! Far is luxurious but it can be casual at the same time, let us see a few examples :

Milan Fashion Week - D&G F/W Collection 2010

The reason why I picked D&G’s F/W collection to talk about is I love the Northern European style of patterns. I remember I read some books about their artworks, they have their own styles and I can’t believe they can actually be fashionable. I personally admire their cultures. So I guess the knit ice-skating sweaters really impress me. Plus, I love the red they use in this collection. I love Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s works a lot.
I don’t particularly like to wear coats or jackets with fur. It’s kinda annoying to me. But in this season, what can a girl do without FUR? No worries! Check out the boots in the collection. A little wild plus a bit elegant. I personally like the brownish colours.

Milan Fashion Week - Blumarine F/W Collection 2010

When The Milan Fashion Week started, our blog wasn’t here yet. So I guess I can just look back and bring you some of my ideas.
It seems that Anna Molinari brings us to a FASHION ZOO!
In this Collection, zebra and snake patterns are the hits and main focuses. The dresses look like nothing special without the simple cuttings on the edges. I think this shows us some more layers and I can totally feel the hot term – ‘SO 3D’!Check out the leather coats, oh my gosh! They’re so gorgeous! Seriously, I’m still figuring out why leather is always the trend in every year. But they really are eye-catching since the perfect black shines so bright. For the shoes, um…well, the cuts are normally just boots. But then the snake pattern is added and I feel kinda scare. lol Then that means, those boots make women swagger!

Katy Perry & Kim Kardashian Style Face-off

The ‘Teenage Dream’ singer, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian took part of The German festival, Oktoberfest.
Apparently a traditional chic was blown in Germany! Kim and Katy both wore traditional dirndl dresses, and so did Salma Hayek. But this time I only pick Katy and Kim to talk about. It seemed that they both presented different styles while wearing the dresses. For Katy, I think she was lovely and I can feel her singing-merrily-and-dancing-gracefully look. Kim looked elegant and classy. Look at her shoes! I really am impressed by her shoes because we all know the nude colours are the trend for F/W fashion. The colour won’t steal the spotlight from the gorgeous dress but it still shines.
So, which style you like better? Katy’s loveliness or Kim’s elegant? Oh you don’t have to force yourself to pick one LOL.

Rachel Bilson & Taylor Swift Style Face-off

Is this cool or not? Rachel Bilson stole the show of Designer Roberto Cavalli. Guess this dress is kinda heavy and not really suitable for TEENS. Haha. Sometimes I feel like some dresses are only for superstars but not us normal girls lol
According to TeenVogue.com, Taylor Swift also dressed pretty in the show. That dress is elegant and more like a teenage girl. But guess Taylor Swift always wears those so not a big surprise for me. Rachel Bilson got my thumb up this time!
